There was a time, not too long, some 6 years back – a smartphone means one with QWERTY keyboard. A QWERTY phone will contain individual key for each English alphabet and numbers may be either added as separate keys are available as shift option with alphabets.
A Qwerty phone enables you to type fast. Touchphones can not provide typing rate as fast as Qwerty keypad, guaranteed. So if your primary use of the phone is a lot of texting and emailing, Qwerty phone is the right choice for you.
Unfortunately, due to falling demand for phones with keypad and a trend towards touch screen, there are not many Qwerty phones available in the market today.
You have to settle for Blackberry Q10 or Bold 9000 which are priced around Rs. 40000. Otherwise Nokia Asha provides few models priced in the range of Rs. 7000/-.
Our opinion is that people should use right model based on their primary usage and not to follow the trend blindly and go for touch screens.
