Yercaud is a small hill station atop Servarayan hill ranges and approximately at 25 KMs distance from Salem, Tamilnadu. The altitude of this hill station is in the range of 1500 meters from mean sea level and the climate is pleasant throughout the year. Unlike other hill stations such as Ooty, Kodaikanal, etc, Yercaud does not get too cold so it can be visited even during peak winter time.
How to reach Yercaud?
Whether from Bangalore or Chennai, you have to first reach Salem. Salem is 200 KMs from Bangalore 330 KMs from Chennai. The roads are too good (Tolled, 4 lane and divided roads) so you can maintain an average speed of 80 KM or above and reach Salem in a matter of few hours.
From Salem, get into Yercaud road and another 30 minutes drive through the ghat section will take you to Yercaud.
Places to see
In our opinion, best part of visiting Yercaud is in peacefully staying in a valley view resort, ordering food and enjoy the green and the valley. There are few spots such as Lake and view points such as Pagoda point can be visited. Other places such as anna park, deer park are worth avoided as there is nothing to see. The servarayan temple can be visited if you have plenty of free time.
